For over 32 years, Hill View Arabians has been involved in the breeding, training and showing of Arabian horses.  A small family operated facility, the prime concern is always the horse.  Our goal is to create a happy and relaxed training environment where the horse and owner can achieve their desired goals.  We focus on helping our amateur and youth riders develop a strong relationship with their horses.  The farm has hosted several 4-H activities from grooming workshops to judging clinics.  Any opportunity we can seize to expose people to this wonderful breed, we take it!

We are fortunate to have several talented clients and horses with Hill View.  Our riders range in age from 7-62. My daughter, Brooke, has been showing since she was 2, where she competed in Stick Horse.  She progressed to Leadline on her gelding Fortune N Glory. (The Chief Justice x SX Geniis Glory).  After turning 5, she decided enough of the leadline stuff….she wanted to turn “Professional”. So, in 2005, she began her career in Walk/Trot showing her two horses Fortune N Glory (Western and Hunt)  and HL Heaven Cent (The Chief Justice x *Centyka) in country pleasure and saddleseat equitation.  In 2007, she was given the opportunity to show Fiona V (Sundance Kid V x Forma) in Walk/Trot Hunter through the generosity of her owners, John and Terry Lockwood.  This 6 year old beautiful mare carried Brooke with grace, power and beauty.  At Region 13 and 11, she made all judge’s cards and just missed a Top 5.

Our love of the Arabian horses began with Dr. John and Chris Thomas (Springcliff Farm) who first introduced us to this breed.  This led to our first meeting with the horses of Brusha Becar Arabians of Camby, IN. In 1977 my mother, Barbara Dill, contacted Carlton Fields, about a 4-H project. She explained to him she couldn’t possibly afford one of his beautiful Arabian horses. Carlton chuckled and invited us up to see what was in his barn.  A 12-year old girl fell in love with her first Arabian horse, Starro (Robask x Restar).  In my opinion, he was the most beautiful horse in the world.  The Fields gave us an easy payment plan and my family had their first Arabian.  Unfortunately, most of the folks in our area were diehard Quarter Horse people and didn’t support our decision to buy an Arabian.  Long story short, Starro and I made believers of these QH people.  He won western, English, halter and showmanship in 4-H, Indiana Saddle Horse Shows and Class A shows.

Our love story with the Fields family and their horses happily continued.  In 1981, a fellow classmate at Martinsville High School, gave me another horse bred by the Fields’, Shaaboom+ (*Gwar x Bint Amirat).  Through the guidance of Dr. Bruce Fields, Shaaboom+ and I enjoyed a very successful amateur career.  We won the English pleasure AAOTR Championships at the Indiana All Arabian from 1985-1990 and then won the Country Pleasure Championship 1991 and 1992.

As a result, the focus of our breeding program is performance with the Fields’ horses as our foundation mares. They are primarily Polish with a touch of Egyptian and CMK. Carlton, Betty and Bruce Fields purchased their foundation stallion, *Gwar (Comet x *Gwadianna), from Dr. LaCroix and he is the grandsire of several of our broodmares.

These Comet bred mares are beautiful, athletic and talented. These horses know no fear and will put it all on the line when asked. What better horses to cross with than the horses of Varian Arabians!  Sheila Varian has mastered creating beautiful, trainable, correct and talented horses. It is a win, win combination.

In 2006 we decided to test our theory, we bred Barbhara (Negat x Gwahara [*Gwar]) an 18 year old mare to the outstanding stallion, Hucks Connection V. We are thrilled with our beautiful filly, HVA Broadway Connection.  She is the spitting image of her sire and with the personality to boot!  A definite repeat breeding to Hucks Connection is planned this year!

We also bred Proweizsa (Profire x Gwahara [*Gwar]) at the ripe old age of 21, to Varian’s up and coming young stallion, Bel Aire V (Baske Afire) who was Top Ten in the Scottsdale English Futurity in 2007.  Proweizsa won the 1986 Buckeye Yearling Sweepstakes class.  She produced an elegant filly, HVA Princess of Bel Aire. This filly exhibits the beauty and power behind these bloodlines.  Another mare given to us by the Fields is Silk Stockenz (Cureeddin [Aladdinn] x Gwarlida [*Gwar]) and we are hoping to breed her to Hucks Connection V this year.

With these quality foals on the ground and a talented amateur and youth riders representing Hill View Arabians…our future looks pretty rosie!
